 Frequently Asked Questions

Program

  • All NTMI Courses are MACTE-accredited and AMS-affiliated.

  • NTMI graduates can work in private Montessori schools all over the world. If an Adult Learner chooses to work in a public Montessori school, additional state licensing is often needed.

  • Adult learners can expect to do one hour of homework for every four hours of class time.

Admission

  • Yes, we offer three different payment plan options. Whether you prefer the ease of a single upfront cost or the convenience of spreading your payment across the course, our flexible payment plans make our program accessible to all adult learners.

    Early Childhood Course Payment Plans

  • Recommendations are submitted from an individual that can vouch for your academic and/or professional career. The letter of recommendation should give a sense of who you will be as an Adult Learner and as a professional educator working with children in a Montessori setting.

  • AMS and NTMI require the applicant to have a transcript analysis sent directly from one of the evaluators located at the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

  • No, the admission interview with our Assistant Program Director, Amber Walker, will take place over Zoom.

  • Applicants typically receive an admission decision within one week of their interview.

Practicum

  • A Practicum (also known as student teaching or internship) consists of, at a minimum, nine consecutive months, five days per week, and a minimum of three hours per day working in a classroom at a Montessori school selected by the Adult Learner in an arrangement that meets the requirement in keeping with the standards of the American Montessori Society and Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.

  • The practicum is a requirement of the course.

  • No, the Practicum serves as an instrumental time to put theory into practice and apply the knowledge gained during the academic phase in a classroom setting.

Throughout the Practicum, adult learners still receive assignments and tasks to foster continued learning and growth, develop their skills, and deepen their understanding of the Montessori approach.

  • Our Assistant Program Director will be there to support you throughout the process of finding a Practicum site that aligns with the standards set by NTMI, the American Montessori Society, and the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education. While they cannot guarantee you a position, they will work diligently to assist you in securing a Practicum site that meets the necessary requirements.

  • You will be required to attend two seminars during your practicum. Both seminars will be held online for the convenience of the adult learner.

Meet NTMI Graduates

  • I completed the Infant and Toddler education program at NTMI and I can confidently say that it was a remarkable experience. Prepare to be inspired, nurtured, and embraced by a community of passionate individuals who share your love for early childhood education.

    Lilian P.

  • Joining NTMI was one of the best life changing decisions that I made for myself. The training completely transformed me as a person, as a parent and above all as an advocate for children. The entire education program is beautifully designed to carry forward the Legacy of the Montessori Pedagogy. The training prepares the adult learners in creating lessons hands on and online, observation and child engagement, classroom management record keeping, parent communication and much much more.

    Payal M.

  • My time at NTMI was truly exceptional! The instructors were highly proficient at addressing individual needs and offering helpful feedback. The small group size facilitated meaningful conversations and productive discussions. I feel honored to have completed my training with NTMI and highly recommend this program to anyone looking to gain valuable knowledge and skills in Montessori education.
